Biography

Dan Scherle is founder and President of GRN Knoxville Downtown. He has more than 20 years of leadership experience as a tier-one automotive supplier. While with Magna International Cosma Body Group, he held senior positions in Program Management, Engineering Management and as General Manager. Skilled in building new business, his support of R&D and advanced product development has brought new products and technology into the market. Before joining GRN, he routinely worked in a global market supporting business relationships that have led to significant sales growth.

Dan’s teams have developed manufacturing solutions to boost productivity, improve quality, reduce waste, and improve margins. A notable case where an aggressive running change was made to the rear bumpers of GM's H Body models, proposing substituting a roll formed ultra high strength steel beam for an aluminum extrusion. Pushing the envelope in metal forming to meet the cost / performance / timing objectives, the plant can now claim that it has formed the highest strength steel grade ever used for an automotive bumper beam. Using advanced technology to launch products has revitalized a sales trend back to profitable growth.

Experienced in the application of Lean, he's produced impressive results by reducing expense in capital equipment, and plant operations, maximizing shareholder value. One example became a benchmark in flexible productivity. His plants were always recognized for their outstanding contribution.
