Regional Sales Manager
This positions primary responsibility is to direct the sales effort for products and services within a designated geography. The incumbent will plan, direct and control sales activities to achieve maximum revenue and profit in accordance with established corporate, regional and unit goals and objectives, as well as costs. The incumbent also is responsible for establishing profitable growth targets and for enhancing market share in the designated region. Duties include:
Managing all sales activities in the assigned sales geography,
Developing a regional growth strategy and leading the sales team to execute it,
Leading the sales team and improving the teams overall selling effectiveness – including training/coaching sales representatives in the assigned territory on their selling responsibilities,
Rewarding and recognizing individual and team achievements,
Ensuring profitability of assigned territory through proper pricing recommendations, contract management, service time, and rebate recommendations,
Collaborating with Technical Service in defining Tier-One accounts in the assigned territory,
Coordinating relationships and interfacing with Operations, Marketing, Product Management and other company functions to ensure products are delivered as and when required and to define product and market needs,
Developing well-defined white papers and proposals to drive profitable growth,
Representing the Company to the customer in sales-related matters – including acting as steward for Presidents Reports,
Tracking sales opportunities in Salesforce.com; providing forecasts to the business on a regular basis, and
Taking responsibility for customer satisfaction, including improvement plans and follow-through actions, in addition to working through the regional Sales and Technical Service teams to maintain a positive customer experience.
The incumbent must be able to anticipate future needs and options. S/he must keep up-to-date on market conditions that impact the region and use the information to anticipate market changes for the company, our customers and our customers customers. S/he must work internally to get the necessary support to meet the clients agenda.
Knowledge & Skills
Requires a Four Year Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other relevant study area (MBA preferred) and at least ten (10) years of proven sales experience in technical chemical products with minimum five (5) years successfully managing a sales staff. Other desired skills, attributes and experiences include:
Ability and willingness to travel as required (approximately 60%),
